Piedmont Pathology is one of the oldest, most technically sophisticated, and respected pathology practices in the southeast United States. Established in 1967 by Dr. Guy J. Guarino, Piedmont Pathology became the first subspecialty trained and board certified pathology group serving western North Carolina.
Since then we have grown into a truly regional pathology network serving patients all over the Carolinas, as well as parts of the entire eastern US.
Our physicians have had the most comprehensive training and have been recruited from the finest pathology programs including: Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Duke University Medical Center, Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center and the University of North Carolina Medical Center at Chapel Hill.
We provide cutting edge diagnostic services to patients in rural and und under served regions of Western North Carolina as well as larger metropolitan areas in South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and New Jersey.
All of our medical staff is board certified in Clinical Pathology as well as Anatomic Pathology with expertise in Microbiology, Hematology, Chemistry and Body Fluid Analysis. Our medical staff facilitates the highest levels of laboratory competence and certification in each of our network hospitals.
